Scope and Contents This series contains letters to and from Mary Louis Doherty; the earliest is dated May 29, 1921, and the latest, April 26, 1981. Most of the letters are from the period between 1943 and 1949. Some letters are undated. Some are originals and others are copies, carbons or transcribed. Materials in this series include documents related to the residence of Mary Louis Doherty and her sister Marguerite in Mexico, including their passports, alien registrations, identification and social security cards, and wills. Other materials relate to the acquisition and purchase of land for their home in Cuernavaca and to the construction of the home itself.
